Originally called Pierre's Hole, site of the fur trapper rendezvous of 1832, the Teton Valley is now considered legend among year-round outdoor enthusiasts. The scenic valley, cradled by the Teton and Big Hole mountain ranges, transforms from champagne powder skiing and snowmobiling into a haven of fly-fishing blue ribbon trout in pristine streams.
The Grand Teton towers in the eastern sky at a breathtaking 13,770 feet, only a mile and a half from the tranquil Teton River in the valley below. Nestled at the base of the Teton's sits the Grand Targhee ski and summer resort, which boasts an average of 500 inches of fresh powder per year.
Known as the "quiet side of the Teton's" the Teton Valley is just 46 miles from Jackson Hole, Wyoming and 79 miles from Idaho Falls, Idaho. Both nearby towns offer access to major commercial air carriers. For private jet services, the Teton Aviation Center is right outside the heart of Driggs and is frequented by the likes of Harrison Ford. Joining the 6,500year-round residents of Teton Valley in the fastest growing county in Idaho is today's mobile work force living where they want, rather than where they work. Traditional family farms give way to recreational opportunities for the thousands drawn to this friendly community, bringing welcomed social and economic diversity to the area. Whether making first tracks in fresh powder, casting a fly into a small ripple, challenging a whitewater rapid, or climbing the Grand itself, nature has sculpted you a paradise! |
